A regional YMCA approached the Helen Brown Group for assistance with their second database screening. In particular, the YMCA was interested in identifying new planned giving prospects. The first screening had concentrated on their current (and recently lapsed) adult members, but the second was for a slightly more distant group of donors; the parents and guardians of recent summer camp attendees. Because this YMCA serves multiple communities, we were able to help narrow their focus to just the most affluent areas to save money on the screening. When the results were returned, our researchers verified top prospects, provided additional critical information for formulating a rating/ask amount, and presented the results, answering questions and providing suggestions for next steps.
A medium-sized college in the silent phase of a capital campaign contacted us for screening assistance. They had not conducted a database screening in many years, and needed their entire constituency assessed. During our consulting conversation, we learned that class year fundraising would be a large part of the campaign, and our suggestions helped focus the screening to identify and segment the top prospects in each of the classes that would be gathering for reunions during the campaign. In addition, we provided the university with data analytics to suggest likely prospects for their library and art museum.
